Transformation du bois-matériau : quelles sont les principales technologies ?
     Le bois issu des forêts est un matériau industriel qui subit deux grandes catégories de transformations pour aboutir au produit final. La première transformation est principalement le sciage, qui comprend lui-même plusieurs étapes, dont une est primordiale : le séchage. Pour être rentables et efficaces, les scieries doivent être de taille importante, permettant d’utiliser des technologies nouvelles comme le scanner X en vue d’optimiser les débits.
     La seconde transformation aboutit au produit final commercialisé ou mis en œuvre. Elle fait appel à des matériels industriels évolués et majoritairement importés. La robotisation se développe très rapidement pour rendre les productions compétitives et non délocalisables !

Wood processing: what are the key technologies?
     Wood sourced from forests is an industrial material that undergoes two main categories of processing to yield the final product. Primary processing consists mainly of sawmilling, a process comprising several stages—one of which is crucial: drying. To be profitable and efficient, sawmills need to be large-scale operations, enabling the use of modern technologies such as X-ray scanners to optimize cutting yields.
     Secondary processing results in the final product that is marketed or put to use. It relies on advanced industrial equipment, most of which is imported. Automation is expanding rapidly to ensure production remains competitive and resistant to offshoring!
