La haie, outil et symbole de paysage ?
     La haie, structure et armature forte de nos paysages ruraux mais aussi urbains, présente une multitude de rôles localement ou au niveau du territoire, depuis la protection contre le vent, l'érosion, la gestion de l'eau jusqu'à l'accueil et la circulation d'une biodiversité indispensable aux équilibres écologiques et agronomiques, sans oublier l'histoire et la mémoire des lieux qu'elle symbolise. Différents plans gouvernementaux ont enfin permis de financer la restauration des haies, mais un tout récent décret semble les remettre en cause.

Abstract

The hedgerow: a tool and a symbol of the landscape?
The hedgerow, a strong structure and framework in our rural and urban landscapes, plays a multitude of roles locally and across the region, from protection against wind and erosion, and water management, to providing habitat and facilitating the movement of biodiversity essential to ecological and agricultural balance, not to mention the history and memory of the places it symbolizes. Various government programs have finally provided funding for hedgerow restoration, but a very recent decree seems to call them into question.
